MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) is a very well-researched program developed by Prof. Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 at the University Hospital of Massachusetts (USA). Central to this modern approach to stress reduction is the training of mindfulness.
Mindfulness means to increase the awareness of what is really happening inside (thoughts, emotions, body sensations) and outside in every moment. Through this training of perception you develop a more relaxed and appropriate way of handling straining influences and stress factors. You learn to meet your challenges with calmness, clarity, and acceptance. Through this you learn to create your daily life in a less stressful way.
